The Global Sentimentality Fellowship brings promising young scholars as well as renowned experts in the field of sentimentality studies to Erlangen. It is open to applicants from around the world and from all disciplines in the humanities. Fellows are expected to be in residence at Erlangen for a period of two to four weeks and to fully participate in academic life at FAU Erlangen-Nuernberg. They are required to at least give one evening lecture that is open to the public and offer one workshop for advanced students and faculty during their stay. Fellows may also plan to include short visits to other Bavarian Universities and the Global Sentimentality Project supports successful applicants in planning their itineraries.

Applications can be submitted at any time, but applicants should indicate their preferred dates as well as possible alternatives and allow for at least six months between their application and the start date of their fellowship.

Applications should be submitted as a single PDF file to Prof. Dr. Heike Paul (heike.paul@fau.de) and must include the following documents:

Letter of motivation

CV

Short project description (3-5 pages)

Writing sample (15-20 pages)

The fellowship covers travel costs, a modest honorarium, and a subsidy for accomodation in Erlangen. Fellows will be assigned a fully equipped workstation at the American Studies department and can make use of all FAU resources during their stay.
